Last Day

Today was a free day.

Each person, every couple, or group of friends, was free to explore Jerusalem on their own.

The city seems inexhaustible. Around every corner is a 1000-year-old piece of history. If you head to the northwest, you eventually connect with Europe. To the east, Asia. And Southwest is Africa. Three of the world's great continents meet on this little spit of land, no bigger than New Jersey.

It is magical, beloved, and contested.

Three of the world's great religions claim it as part of their sacred space. It is where Jesus walked, taught, healed, laughed, cried, and died. It's also where he rose. It's the epicenter of Luke's Acts of the Holy Spirit. It's the Promised Land God gave to Abraham. It still flows with milk and honey.

And it's now time to say goodbye. Maybe not goodbye. Maybe just farewell, until we meet again.

This original work graced one of Jerusalem's many art galleries.
